It's like they've forgotten what it means to be part of a group and support their fellow students. This lack of enthusiasm is negative to the entire school environment.

My School Is Different
When I see the words "alma mater|my old school|the place where I learned}", it doesn't bring back feelings of warmth and nostalgia. For me, it's a vague concept. Maybe because my experience there were so different, or perhaps I simply haven't had the time to look back. Whatever the reason, that phrase doesn't hold the same meaning for me as it does for others.
It's not that I regret my time at school. It was a time of learning, just not one that feels familiar in the way many people describe.
Perhaps it's because I made my passions outside the traditional school setting. Or maybe it's because my memories are defined by unique experiences. Whatever the case, "Not My Alma Mater|My School Is Different|This Isn't My Old School", and that's perfectly okay.

Seriously, school/the whole idea of/that thing they call "school spirit/spirit week/pep rallies" is about as appealing/relevant/interesting to me as a moldy sandwich/root canal/trip to the dentist. I'd rather be practicing my guitar/reading a good book/taking a nap than wearing a ridiculous costume and chanting slogans. Give me brains over brawn any day!
